You are invited to join the Catholic Lawyers of Western Michigan for the annual Red Mass on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 5:30 pm at the Cathedral of St. Andrew with dinner to follow at the Cathedral Square Center at 360 Division Ave, Grand Rapids, MI 49503.
Our distinguished guest and speaker will be Professor Kevin C. Walsh, an associate professor of law at the University of Richmond. Professor Walsh will speak to us on contemporary issues in religious liberty law. He brings a wealth of experience to the question as Professor Walsh represented the Little Sisters of the Poor in their recent religious liberty litigation. Professor Walsh has an A.B. from Dartmouth College, a M.A. in theology from Notre Dame, and a law degree from Harvard Law School. After law school he clerked for Judge Paul V. Niemeyer on the Fourth Circuit and then for the late-Justice Antonin Scalia on the United States Supreme Court. He has published on questions of federal jurisdiction and constitutional law in The New York University Law Review and the Stanford Law Review. Please RSVP today for the dinner. The dinner is now $70 per person. Please invite guests, spouses, significant others, friends, fellow parishioners, and others in the community whether Catholic or non-Catholic to this Mass and dinner. The early registration deadline is Friday, September 23, 2016. After that the cost will go up to $70. Dinner will be a chicken entrée, but vegetarian options are available.
